What does RIS mean to you?

Researcher and student perspectives

Curated by Chrystal A. George Mwangi and Melissa Whatley
Edited by Amanda R. Corso

These videos draw content from a series of interviews we conducted in May and June 2024 with international students and researchers who work with international students. Inspired by the Research with International Students conference, held in December 2023 at the University of Manchester, we aimed to document how scholars, many of them international students themselves, were thinking about research with international students. Specifically, we asked questions about what research with international students meant to these individuals, how they go about doing this work, and important lessons they had learned from conducting research with international students. It is our hope that these videos serve as the start of a broader conversation about international student research that honors the humanity of international students.

What does research with international students mean to you?

What is your experience participating in research as an international student?

What is a lesson learned as a researcher or participant in this field?
